This course establishes the foundation for character, creature and environment design. Your mentor will share the tools you need to accelerate as a concept designer. Each class consists of lectures on technique, skill, critique, and demonstrations. Outside of the live class, students will advance their skills and comprehension by way of hands-on assignments and access to a variety of insightful documents. In addition, this course features two industry-acclaimed concept artists as guest speakers.

⬇️ Lars Grant-West
Lars Grant-West has produced interior illustrations for role-playing game books since 2000.
Much of his work has appeared in Dungeons & Dragons books in the game's third edition, such as the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Psionics Handbook, Faiths and Pantheons, Epic Level Handbook, Monster Manual II, Deities and Demigods, Book of Vile Darkness, Fiend Folio, and Draconomicon.
Grant-West has also illustrated books for the Obsidian RPG, as well as other d20 System games. Grant-West also illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. He has also worked on special projects for the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island.
⬇️ Jay Machado
Jay Machado is a 3D modeler/texture artist working in the film, advertising and video game industry. His body of work includes music videos and commercials, a AAA game, amusement park rides and feature films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight. Jay currently works at Disney/Lucasfilm's Industrial Light & Magic as a Model Supervisor on Disney +'s The Mandalorian, but is also interested in physically based rendering, VR, game development and 3D printing outside of work.
