About Vanesa R. Del Rey

Vanesa R. Del Rey is a Cuban-American comic book artist celebrated for her dark, atmospheric art style, which brings a haunting quality to her work.

Del Rey first gained recognition for her work on Hit, a crime noir series published by BOOM! Studios. She continued to make a name for herself in the horror genre with The Empty Man, a supernatural thriller also from BOOM! Studios, written by Cullen Bunn. In her collaborations with Jordie Bellaire on Redlands, a supernatural horror series from Image Comics, Del Rey’s gritty, expressive illustrations have been widely praised for their ability to set an intense, immersive tone.

She has also contributed to Marvel Comics, illustrating for titles like Scarlet Witch, Spider-Women Alpha, and Daredevil Annual (2016). Known for her skill in blending expressive characters with atmospheric settings, Del Rey’s work explores themes of mystery, horror, and the macabre.
